Undelete
Server / Client Functionality
A user calls the Help
Desk in a panic. "I have a meeting in
Cleveland tomorrow, and I've just
deleted the presentation I need!" What
do you do?
The Windows Server
recycle bin doesn't protect files
deleted by network clients.
Traditionally, the only way to recover a
file has been from backup, a
time-consuming chore that can only
restore the file as (and if) it existed
at the time of backup—if it works at
all.
Undelete 5 Server
Edition provides real-time data
protection that allows files to be
recovered instantly in the same state
they were at the time they were deleted.
It can even recover older, saved over
versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint files!
New in Undelete 5 Server
Edition is the Undelete 5 Desktop
Client. This technology empowers users
to recover their own deleted or saved
over Microsoft Office files from server
Recovery Bins without having to call the
Help Desk. Each Undelete Server Edition
license includes five Desktop Client
licenses. Additional licenses can be
purchased separately. (Client computers
with Undelete 5 Professional Edition can
also recover files from the server.)
Have your users ever
accidentally saved over an important
Microsoft Office file and now need you
to restore an earlier version from
backup? We've all had occasion to open
an important Word document or Excel
spreadsheet intending to use it as a
starting point for a new file and
forgotten to rename it, sometimes wiping
out many hours or days of work the
instant the new file was saved.
Why suffer through one more restore from
backup? Unlike Volume Shadow Copy (VSS),
Undelete works in real-time, capturing
every file version. Why tell your
panicking users "Tough luck"? With
Undelete 5 Server Edition, your users
restore their own deleted or saved over
MS Office files with the Undelete
Desktop Client or Pro Edition installed
on their desktops. Undelete 5 Server
Edition gives your users real-time data
protection with instant recovery. No
file server should be without it!

Undelete automatically captures old
versions of Microsoft Office files
(Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), allowing
recovery of earlier, saved-over
versions. Version Recovery is integrated
with Windows Explorer—simply right-click
on a file to recover earlier versions.
New! Undelete now supports versioning
for new file formats of Microsoft Office
2007 Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

The Recovery Bin catches
all files no matter how they were
deleted, allowing you to restore them
instantly with just a few mouse clicks.
The Recovery Bin mimics the directory
structure of your disk and includes a
powerful search function, making it easy
to find and recover files. New! Enhanced
filter driver eliminates the need to
reboot your servers. Installing and
using Undelete is now easier than ever.

With
the Undelete Desktop Client, users of
computers attached to your servers can
recover their own files directly from
server Recovery Bins. The Desktop Client
can be pushed out to client systems by
Undelete Server.
When
SecureDelete is enabled, files that are
purged from the recovery bin are
overwritten with random data using a
methodology developed for the National
Security Agency.

The Recovery Bin makes
locating deleted files easier by
displaying them in their original
directory structure, even if the
directories have been deleted. Undelete
gives you the option of recovering files
to either the original or an alternate
location.

The Recovery Bin
displays information about each deleted
file including the file owner, the date
and time the file was deleted, and the
account used to delete the file.
With Undelete Desktop
Client or Pro Edition installed on
network clients, your users can connect
to the Undelete Server Edition Recovery
Bins installed on the network file
servers and restore their own deleted or
saved-over MS Office files. NTFS
security is fully supported.
Undelete can recover
files deleted before Undelete was
installed, provided they haven't been
overwritten. Enhancements in version 5
allow even more files to be safely
recovered directly from the disk. Plus,
you can recreate the original folders
which makes reorganizing your restored
files a snap.
New in version 5.0, you
can now preview files in the Recovery
Bin to find the exact one you want to
restore.
